एक लैपटॉप प्रतिबच्चा (OLPC) एक अति महात्वाकांक्षी परियोजना है जिसके तहत अत्यंत सस्ती कीमत में (वर्तमान में 6000 रुपए में,) बहुत ही उम्दा, मजबूत किस्म के लैपटॉप तमाम विश्व के गरीब बच्चों को (एक तरह से) मुफ़्त में (सरकारी व गैर-सरकारी तथा व्यक्तिगत सहयोग से) प्रदान किया जा रहा है. आप भी कई तरीके से इस परियोजना का हिस्सा हो सकते हैं. जैसे कि, आप जिस भाषा के जानकार हैं – उस भाषा में एक्सओ (ओएलपीसी का ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम तथा प्रोग्राम) अनुप्रयोगों व मैनुअल/मदद फ़ाइलों को अनुवाद करके.

हिन्दी भाषा में एक्सओ के कुछ आरंभिक फ़ाइलों का अनुवाद आप आनलाइन यहां पर कर सकते हैं.

इसके लिए वहां पर आपको एक खाता खोलना होगा. खाता खोलने के बाद लॉगइन करें, फिर जिस फ़ाइल का अनुवाद करना है, या अनुवाद परिवर्धित करना है, उसे क्लिक कर खोलें व अनुवादित/गैर अनुवादित शब्दों/वाक्यों को चुनें. आपके सामने एक बक्सा प्रकट होगा जिसमें आप हिन्दी में अनुवाद भर सकते हैं. आप चाहें तो विकल्पों में से Suggest भी चुन सकते हैं, यदि आपको लगता है कि अनुवाद पक्का नहीं है, और सुझाव मात्र है. आप बगैर पंजीकृत हुए और बगैर लॉगइन किए भी अनुवाद कर सकते हैं, परंतु वह सिर्फ सुझाव के रूप में ही दर्ज होगा. एक बात ध्यान में रखनी होगी कि इन अनुवादों को बच्चे ही ज्यादा पढेंगे इसलिए सरल, कलपनाशील, अनुवाद ही उचित होंगे.

Firefox Localization

The language pack for latest firefox version is still being developed under the guidance of Janabhaarati Team.

Open Office Localization

You will first have to download the english pack and then the marathi pack.
You can not install the Marathi pack if the latest version of open office is already installed on your computer.

Mediawiki localization

I have installed mediawiki for the dictionary project at.... http://saraswaticlasses.net/wiki/index.php5

I have found that only about 10% of localization is complete where as at Marathi Wikipedia it's almost 100%. Is it possible for anyone to submit the translated strings from wikipedia to mediawiki localization project so that the people like me who wants to install mediawiki on their own server can have a complete marathi website?

Once logged in click on "All Items" to see the strings which needs to be translated in Marathi. Select any one that you know the marathi word for and add it to the database.
